Ca. 100-300 AD.A lovely terracotta oil lamp with a columnar projection that ends in a nicely detailed swan head. Next to the neck, there is a figure of a robed female, probably a goddess. The space under the bird's bent neck creates a perforation that allows the lamp to be hung. The pear-shaped body of the lamp has a rounded wick spout and a filling hole.Size: L:175mm / W:70mm ; 300gProvenance: Property of a London Ancient Art gallery, acquired on the European Art Market; ex. WB Collection (1895-1973), Rhineland. In Germany since before 1960.
