Ca. 550 BC.An extremely fine Archaic Greek hollow cast terracotta statuette, representing a bull. The animal is portrayed recumbent, with its legs resting beneath his body, the head slightly turned to the right, and his mouth closed. The animals anatomical features have been rendered in a stylised manner, with almond-shaped and wide-open eyes. The animals neck features ribbed, incised bands, possibly representing the necks folds of flesh, or a rings collar.Size: L:280mm / W:205mm ; 3.2kg.Provenance: Property of a private London collector, acquired pre 2000.
