Pair of Weimar vases with soft painting, KPM Berlin, early 20th century, 1st choice, red imperial orb mark, year letters for 1909 and 1918, on a round foot rising urn body with lateral handles, at the base acanthus leaves and winding serpents, both sides polychrome painting with gallant dancing couple in landscape resp. flower bouquet in soft painting, cobalt blue background with elaborate ornamental gilding, ornamental friezes partly painted slightly greenish, lid knob in the shape of an acanthus bud, h. 51 cm, the vase was given this name because it was designed for the Duchess of Weimar in 1785.
