Description

方形香盘以优质淡白玉制成，质地温润，微受褐沁。盘型精巧，舒展自然，胎壁均薄，作长方造型，敞口，弧壁，浅腹，平底，胫部作回纹，下承四拐足。掏膛细致，打磨匀净，胎体轻薄，殊为难得。具有清时期玉雕的典型风格。成书于明万历早期的《本草纲目》中，较为详细地记载了制作线香的原料与方法，由此推测当时已经普遍使用线香，而为配合燃烧线香，香具品种开始增多，出现了香插、卧炉等新器形。乾隆皇帝多宝阁“集琼藻”中亦有白玉方香盘一件，足见此类玉质香盘备受清代宫廷青睐。
