An exceptionally fine and rare Hereke silk rug. with signed cartouche, the rectangular central panel enclosing multiple diagonal rows of birds, stylised plants, ewers and other birds within diagonal hooked guls, within multiple borders and embossed edge, 99.5 x 68.5cm.The signature is by the master weaver Avak Shirinian who was one of the famous Hereke Shirinian brothers Avak and Haigaz who were part of the Suadiye (Kocaeli) workshop circa 1960's/1970's.
