TWO BLACK LACQUER INLAID FOUR-LEAF SCREENSLate Qing Dynasty The first screen finely decorated in two registers, the upper register with a large central pavilion with two-tiered roofs on a terrace, amidst various luxuriant trees, surrounded by Immortals holding their various attributes, the lower register decorated with one mythical beast on each leaf, all within cartouches with diaper-pattern ground, the reverse of the screen decorated with various birds and trees, the lower register with vegetables, 180cm (70.8in) wide x 182cm (71 1/2in) high ; the second screen similarly decorated with a large central pavilion, but surrounded by children and elegant ladies, the reverse lacquered red, 184cm (72 1/2in) wide x 183cm (72in) high .
