Ca. 300-100 BCStanding upright with a long illustrious dress, this statuette represents a goddess with young childlike features wearing a stylised polos crown which is tall and cylindrical in shape with an image of crescent moon. A suspension hole through the centre. Adopted by the Greeks from the ancient Near East and Anatolia these polos crowned figures usually depicted goddess Rhea, Cybele or Hera. Below the crown, her hair is depicted short with incised decoration. Her dress is highly decorated with dotted decoration throughout. Set on a hollow reel-shaped plinth.Size: L:100mm / W:35mm ; 400gProvenance: Property of a London private collector, acquired on London Art market pre-2000.
