Woodblocks, comprising:
(1) "Matoba in Takehara", horizontal landscape scene with an inscription to the left-hand margin and a signature with a seal to the lower right-hand corner of print; sold with a wooden frame. (2) "Myohonji Temple" vertical; with an inscription to the left-hand margin and a signature with a seal to the lower right-hand corner of print; sold with a wooden frame.
H: 11 3/4, W: 10 in. (sight, vertical)
H: 29.85, W: 25.4 cm. (sight, vertical)
Provenance: Estate, Jud Samon. Mr. Samon was a retired coordinator of International Faculty and Student Services at the University of Maryland at College Park.
Condition: "Matoba in Takehara" with minor creasing at the top right and lower left corners; "Myohonji Temple" with abrasions and minor signs of wear. Not examined outside frames. Dimensions with frame: H: 21, W: 16 1/2 in. (vertical); H: 53.34, W: 41.91 cm. (vertical).
