Pair of Monochrome Light Blue-glazed Brush WashersChina, 19th/20th century, hexagonal low bowl-form, resting on a short-raised foot, thickly glazed, brown bisque foot ring, the glaze mottled with greenish tint and allover craquelure, ht. to 1 3/4, dia. to 4 in. Provenance: A family heirloom collection mostly formed in the 1900-20s by Dr. Frederick Whiting (1821-1946). Dr. Whiting was a philanthropic otologist/professor of Clinical Surgery in Otology at Cornell University who authored the book, Modern Mastoid Operation. He was also known as a collector of American painting, medallic art, and Asian porcelain.
