Two Zen Calligraphy Hanging ScrollsJapan, one in the manner of Nangaku Etsuzan (fl. 17th c.) of five-character proverb in cursive script, signed with three seals, 82 1/2 x 15 1/4 overall, calligraphy 50 1/8 x 10 1/4; and one by Miyamoto Chikukei in cursive script on light blue paper, signed with a seal, 48 1/4 x 22 overall, calligraphy 13 x 17 in. Provenance: From the David Drabkin Collection, many of which were loaned to the Yale University Art Gallery for exhibition/research. Mr. Drabkin formed his art collection while residing in many parts of Asia, including Japan, China, and Thailand. His keen interest in Asian art led him to build a close relation with many fellow art collectors, gallery owners, art historians, and art dealers, such as J.J. Lally.
