PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT PRIVATE COLLECTION A PAIR OF FINE DOUCAI 'DRAGON AND PHOENIX' BOWLSChenghua marks, 18th/19th century Each with wide, deeply rounded sides supported on a straight foot, the exterior painted in lively doucai enamels with a pair of dragons each pursuing a flaming pearl and interspersed by a pair of soaring phoenixes, clouds, and flame scrolls, all between a band of polychrome lappets below and an iron-red band at the rim, the interior with a central medallion enclosing a frontal dragon amidst flame scrolls and further clouds, the base with a six-character mark in underglaze blue within a circle. 8 3/4in (22.2cm) diam.
