米拉日巴（1040～1123年），西藏佛教史上著名的密宗上师。米拉日巴常被表现为身着白衣、斜挂瑜伽带、侧耳倾听的瑜伽士形象，此尊即为米拉日巴造像的典型样式。上师坐于龛状山洞内，长发披肩，上身赤裸，根根肋骨凸现，苦行瑜伽士的形象尽现，右手拢住右耳，倾听自然的声响。自在坐于铺有羚羊皮的蒲团之上，右腿曲立，盘曲的左腿胫骨毕现，造像衣褶线条自然、流畅，身体匀称合度，尤其对四肢肌肉和骨骼的表现，生动写实，在方寸之间，将雕像刻画的如此细腻入微，艺术家的高超技艺可见一斑。米拉日巴善以道歌教诫弟子，因此不仅成为西藏最有名的瑜伽圣士，还是最受喜爱的吟唱诗人。其道歌被15世纪藏宁·赫鲁迦结集成《米拉日巴道歌集》，对后世影响深远。
