此件如意采用漆器工艺中较为少见的朱漆戗金手法制作而成，工艺复杂，在明清两代的漆器生产中均为少见。其制作方法为，在漆地上按照设计的图案剔刻出低陷的花纹，花纹之内填各色漆，充满之后，全部磨平，显露出平整光滑的花纹来，然后沿着花纹轮廓用钩刀刻出纹路及叶脉纹理，最后打金胶，贴金箔，使填漆花纹有金色的阴文边框和纹理。
