A JAPANESE BRONZE FIGURE OF KANNON BY MATSUBARA JOHOTAISHO PERIOD (1912-1926)Finely cast as a standing Kannon figure on a rocky outcrop, draped in a robe and carrying a scroll in the right hand. With a deep rich brown patina, and with a parcel gilt diadem to the forehead. Incised signature reading 'Joho'.49cm high, 23cm wideOTHER NOTES:Matsubara Joho was active in the first half of the 20th Century. He was a student of Oshima Joun (1858-1940), who is considered one of the great sculptors of the first half of the 20th Century, and exhibited in international exhibitions.
