Ca. 500-700 AD A Byzantine gold ring featuring a discoid bezel joined to a solid round-section hoop, and decorated with a niello-inlaid design of a monogram in the form of a cross. For simiilar rings see: Chadour, A.B., Rings. The Alice and Louis Koch Collection, volume I, Leeds, 1994. The item has undergone X-ray fluorescence analysis to confirm the metallurgical content suggesting its ancient origin and lack of modern trace elements.
