Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Ca. 100-300 AD A cast-bronze oil lamp. The elegant formed handle conjoins the lamp to the foot with a curved rounded handle forming a straight handle to the foot. The foot is conical shaped tapering into a narrow body decorated with a central raised rounded rib, either side of this, are two sets of three lines running parallel around the body. The tapering body connects to a round lamp with three nozzles with raised rims. Scholars believe that bronze lamps, with their increased cost over pottery lamps, were most likely a kind of heirloom, and were also probably reserved for the richest households. Size: L:216mm / W:172mm ; 1.21Kg Provenance: Property of a Mayfair London Gallery; formerly from an old British collection formed since 1980s.
