最早的玉制砚台始于宋代，明代逐渐增多。明代玉砚台造型大方，一般多是光素之器，器形主要有圆形、椭圆形、长方形等。此件玉砚台为青白玉质，砚以整料碾成，长方形而阴线留边，砚内用阴刻线条刻画出山水景象，一叶扁舟，虽寥寥刻划数笔，却勾勒出一幅山水景象，极具文人风气。砚台器形规整，玉质良好，可作为文房收藏。带底座。
