白玉质，局部有沁，琢成圆形剑首，高浮雕螭龙一只，盘踞于剑首上。螭龙头部呈倒梯形，双眼凸出，身形曲卷灵动，呈S形，尾部细长，四肢蹬爬有力。剑首下方有凸钮，凸钮中间有凹槽及穿孔，以作镶嵌固定之用。此玉剑首形制独特，特别是高浮雕做法极为出彩，具有汉代风格。汉代玉剑饰存世有量，螭龙有阴刻、浅浮雕、高浮雕之分，其中尤以高浮雕为上，如有出廓，更是上上之品，最受市场追捧。玉剑首是镶嵌在剑柄顶端的装饰品，玉剑首最早见于西周时期，主要流行于战国至汉代。其形状大致相近，饰纹较为丰富，有的中心有一圆孔。剑首除作装饰外，也是区分等级的标志。
