The bowl shows a scene of two ‘dragon chasing a flaming pearl’ motifs that are done in iron red glaze and traced in gold. The dragons are posed in a lively and fierce stance to convey power and strength as they leap above the sea through auspicious clouds with open claws. There is a golden ring painted below the mouth of the bowl as well as golden ruyi patterns to the inside of the bowl. A red five-clawed dragon surrounded by a circle of seawater sits at the center of the interior of the bowl. There is a blue and white six-character Guangxu seal mark. This bowl is well decorated, with an interesting application of red, green and gold that makes it a joy to behold.
