Copy 72/75.Signed, dated and justified in pencil.Size: 77 x 110 cm; 83 x 116 cm (frame).Spanish artist, writer and art critic, Elena Asins based her plastic language on systematic calculation through the use of new technologies, especially computers. In this sense, she combines the constructive tradition of the 20th century avant-garde with the computation and information theory of the 1960s, and is considered one of the pioneering artists in Spain to use technology as an ally of art. Her artistic works present a great multiplicity of formats and media, from concrete poetry to video, drawing, sculpture and even installation, always characterised by a rigorous composition and formal purification. His artistic career began at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, followed by the universities of Stuttgart, where he immersed himself in the fundamentals of semiotics, the Complutense University of Madrid and the University of New York. He began his career collaborating with the group Castilla 63, founded by Miguel Pinto in 1963. He also studied at the Centro de Cálculo at the University of Madrid, where he met José María Yturralde, among other artists, at a seminar devoted to the generation of artistic forms through computers. His work can be found in museums and collections, both public and private, including the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Museo de Arte Abstracto de Cuenca, the Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno, the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao, the Fundación Banesto and the Unión Fenosa collection, among others. Finally, in 2006 he received the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts from the Spanish Government and in 2011 the National Prize for Plastic Arts.
