Joyes began to exhibit regularly during the 1970s and 1980s. The union with her husband led to the beginning of a common career, which resulted in the styles of both artists having obvious similarities, although with a different personality and imprint. Both cultivated their style within symbolism, form and colour. For Joyes, the symbol is the mystery that captures the viewer, with the intention that each person should configure the meaning from a subjective point of view.
