ALEXANDRE GRIMAL NAVARRO (Barcelona, 1943).Untitled, 1979.Silkscreen on paper. Copy 60/75.Signed, dated and numbered in pencil.Measurements: 70 x 51 cm.Alexandre Grimal Navarro is a Spanish painter. He studied at the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi. Throughout his professional career he has maintained a special interest in technical and plastic processes (mural painting, engraving, etc.), which has allowed him to delve into the study of prehistoric cave art.In 1986, he joined several inventory and documentation campaigns of sites with rock art in Catalonia, Albacete and Cuenca. Since then, he has actively participated in more than two dozen research projects on this subject in different territories (Lérida, Tarragona, Albacete, Murcia, etc.), which led him to disagree, right from his first studies, with the prevailing theories in the research of post-Palaeolithic art, which for him are strongly reminiscent of 18th and 19th century academicist thought, by sustaining the evolutionary processes of forms from figuration to abstraction.
