Oil on panel. This painting representing the Holy Family precisely follows, both in its models and in its proportions and size, the well-known work of Andrea del Sarto, made around 1528, and currently preserved in the National Gallery of Ancient Art of the Palazzo Barberini in Rome. The composition created by Sarto managed to achieve enormous fame in its time, immediately causing the production of numerous copies that repeated the same model. Its success was due to its innovative technique of "sandy" and unusual tones, but, above all, to the wise interpretation of models elaborated by some of the great masters such as the case of Rafael, whose pensive Saint Joseph is inspired by that of the "Holy Family of Francis I" or the physiognomy of Mary that is largely reminiscent of that of the "Virgin of the Grand Duke". From a private Spanish collection, its origin is Italian and it is presented with its impressive original frame, made of carved and gilt wood decorated with scrolls, scallop shells and acanthus leaves. Measurements: 143 x 105 cm. Frame measurements: 190 x 150 cm.
