吴 作 人（1908-
1997），安徽宣城泾县人，生
于江苏苏州，1926 年入苏州工
业专科学校建筑系，1927 年至
1930 年初先后就读于上海艺术
大学、南国艺术学院美术系及南
京中央大学艺术系，从师徐悲鸿
先生，并参加南国革新运动。早
年攻素描、油画，功力深厚；间
作国画富于生活情趣，不落传统
窠臼。晚年后专攻国画，境界开
阔，寓意深远，以凝练而准确的
形象融会着中西艺术的深厚造
诣。在素描、油画、艺术教育方
面都造诣甚深，他在中国画创造
方面更是别创一格，自成一家。
吴作人是继徐悲鸿之后中国美术
界的又一领军人物。
