A white glaze Hirado porcelain relief censer in lantern shape, Edo period, 18th century, Japan, A traditional Japanese lantern form with cover and two loose rings hanging from two side handles. Pierced all around with floral and fruit panels in relief. Not marked. H 30 cm, A small piece broken off the finial (see close-up photo). No other chips, no hairlines and no restoration. Two similar examples are in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York; Accession Number: 29.100.243a, b.
