A rose imari plate la dame au parasol , Yongzheng period, ca. 1725, China, A fine plate showing a gentleman holding a parasol for a lady. The blue diaper border with four cartouches containing curious insects and a bat. Similarities between this plate and some of the Cornelis Pronk designs have been noted, although it is assumed that this plate pre-dates the Pronk designs. D 21,8 cm, Good condition: no chips, no hairlines and no restoration. From a Dutch collection. Bought from Sotheby s Amsterdam (Mak van Waay), on October 16th. 1990.
