After 1962, most Russian unmanned space flights were called Kosmos, and those flights which carried payloads for other nations, or whose data were to be used by other nations, were generally called Interkosmos. The pinnacle of international cooperation in space occurred in 1975 with the Soyuz/Apollo Test Project in which the U.S. Astronauts and the Soviet Cosmonauts rendezvoused in space. Basic to the entire project was the design of the common docking module, jointly conceived by engineers from both countries. The vehicles were successfully docked, and after two days of operations the spacecraft separated. It was a milestone of international cooperation. Image Size: 4.25 x 5.25 in.
