A hefty forged-iron axe head of utilitarian form featuring a rectangular blade head with a sharpened edge, a thick neck, and a wide socketing shaft into which a wooden pole was likely inserted. The surfaces are covered in dark gray and orange patina that show telltale signs of this tool's age. Used for myriad tasks like chopping or shaping wood or mud bricks, this is a fine example of everyday Viking tools.
