A yellowish celadon jade 'goat-head' cup, Ming Dynasty (catlogued in Lyon & Turnbull)the oblong shaped vessel supported on a waisted circular foot, engraved to both sides of the body with highly stylised chi dragons, one side on the rim rising to a goat's head with prodigious backward-curling horns, the opposite with a high-relief ferocious chi dragon clinging on the mouth of the cup with front paws, body swinging to one side with curvy tails, the stone of luscious green colour with yellowish tinge, when zooming in for 60 to 100 times to observe the tiny marks on the lot, marks of using soft abrasives could be seen, such marks are very different on modern jade pieces where new machines are used for carving and polishing.Provenance: private English collection, catalogued in Lyon & Turnbull9.5cm wide
