A CHINESE FUR-LINED RED-GROUND EMBROIDERED SILK LADY'S ROBE. Late Qing Dynasty. Embroidered and applied with butterflies and flowers, the neck, cuffs and base lined in pale cream fur, 127cm H, 153cm across. Provenance: from the collection of Sheila Rosevear Urquhart (1908 – 1992), thence by descent to the present owner. The memoires are published as Sheila Unrquhart, 2009, Sons of Heaven and document her time in China from her birth until she moved to Burma with her husband in 1932. They also include her own drawings based on the Chinese art collection she amassed and are a touching portrait of an upbringing immersed in Chinese culture in the early 20th Century. 清晚期 红地女冬袍 来源:来自Sheila Rosevear Urquhart (1908 – 1992) 私人收藏,后传承至现藏家。
