A CHINESE DOUCAI CUP. Qing Dynasty, Yongzheng mark and of the period. The waisted conical sides painted with four medallions alternately decorated with flower and fruits borne on leafy branches, all between a double blue band at the rim, and a further thin band at the foot, the base with a six character mark within a double square, wood stand, 4.5cm H, 8cm diameter 清雍正 斗彩杯,青花「大清雍正年制」款 The design of the present cup is drawn from a prototype of the Chenghua period. An example from the National Palace Museum is illustrated in The Far-Reaching Fragrance of Tea: the Art and Culture of Tea in Asia, 2016, cat no I-27. Here it is noted that the specific size of the piece might designate it as being either a 'big wine cup' or a small tea cup.
