A CHINESE FUJIANESE GILT-LACQUER 'LEAF' STAND. Qing Dynasty, 19th Century. Carved as a large banana leaf tied by the stem to a bunch of lotus blossoms forming the base, with a small chilong piercing through the surface with a lingzhi in his mouth, unmarked, 37.5cm long. Provenance: from an English private collection. 清十九世纪 木漆金叶形座 来源:英国私人收藏。 For a closely related dish dated 19th Century see Edward F Strange, Catalogue of Chinese Lacquer, 1925, plate XXIX.
