A PAIR OF LARGE CHINESE IMARI JARS AND COVERS. Qing Dynasty, Kangxi period. Each of baluster form, painted in gilt, underglaze blue and iron red with a continous scene around the body depicting two pheasants on rocks amidst luxuriant flowering trees, the domed covers decorated with peonies emerging from behind rocks, above a diaper border with three ruyi heads encircling an unglazed finial modelled as a Buddhist lion dog seated with the head slightly raised, with unglazed Chinese lion finial, 64cm H.
