Diameter 32.5 cm, weight 928 g.
Round scalloped plate with a broad rim. Decorated with grapevines and engraved with the monogram "WR" beneath the Prussian crown. The underside engraved with inventory number "No.16", weight 1,886 lbs and stamped with the inventory no. 937. After the smeltings of 1809 and 1813, this service, originally made in 1829 for the wedding of the later King (from 1871 onwards Emperor) William I, laid the foundation for the new Prussian court silver of the 19th century. This style of decoration, which Paul Storr had made famous in England at the beginning of the 19th century, enjoyed unbroken popularity, as evidenced by the numerous repeat orders for plates, platters and bowls with the crowned monogram of the reigning king from various court suppliers.
