The cup decorated with busts of Frederick William III and Tsar Alexander I flanked by laurel foliage and palm fronds, inscribed above "Heil euch im Siegerkranz!" (hail you with a victory wreath). The saucer with a topographical plan of the battle on Montmartre, inscribed "Einzug in Paris, 31. Maerz 1814." On 31st March 1814, the coalition armies succeeded in occupying Paris and forcing Napoleon Bonaparte s abdication. As a result, Napoleon was exiled to the island of Elba, where he would stay for only ten months before beginning a campaign of reconquest in May 1815. It was not until the legendary battle of Waterloo, in modern day Belgium, on 18th June 1815, that Napoleon was finally defeated and subsequently exiled by the Allies to the island of St. Helena, where he died in 1821.品相: Slightly worn.
