Painted with a portrait of Prince Elector Clemens Wenzeslaus in a forget-me-not surround, the saucer with a view of the princely residence in an identical surround, labelled Coblenz on a Classical writing tablet. Clemens Wenzeslaus of Saxony (1739 - 1812), son of King August III of Saxony, became Prince Bishop of Freising and Regensburg in 1764, and Prince Elector of Trier and Prince Bishop of Augsburg in 1768. He had Philippsburg Castle in Ehrenbreitstein extended by Pierre Michel d Ixnare and Antoine-François Peyre from 1777 - 93 to create a more imposing structure befitting his new position.来源: Provenance Lempertz Cologne, auction 794 on 23rd November 2000, lot 214.
