Measurements: Width: 35cm, Height: 61cm Chinese Ming Dynasty Wanli Blue and White Cranes Porcelain Jar. Potted into jar shape, having thick and tall, globular body, heavy on shoulder gently tapered on short neck, round mouth lip and raised on ring foot base slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white and blue color, depicted of hundred flying cranes through cumulus clouds and scrolling ruyi and vapors. The crane symbolizes longevity as well as wisdom. An embroidery of a crane formed part of the regalia of the top rank of Imperial officials, so can symbolize the wish for promotion to a high official position, longevity and riches. The Neck - base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark. Made in The Years Wanli Reign Period of The Great Ming Dynasty.
