PROVENANCE:From St Matthew, Kentucky, Private Collectors.Measurements: Length: 21cm, Width: 12cm, Height: 28cm Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue and White Magpie Porcelain Moon Vase. The porcelain potted in moon vase, thick and tall, flat globular on lower belly, emerging ruyi flanked on the neck, raised on rectangle foot base slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white and blue fine color, depicted of magpie hanging on sturdy branch surround with flowers bloom and foliage. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the under glaze greyish - blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue - black. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design.The underside unglazed, revealed the pale - creme ground revealed and dark greyish brown spotted firing marks and edge - cut foot rim.
