Jahrhundert noch als eine eigenhändige Arbeit Hans Holbeins d. J. angesehen wurde, geht auf eine Zeichnung Holbeins zurück, welche sich in der Royal Collection befindet (Inv.-Nr. RCIN 912234) und im 16. Jahrhundert mehrmals in Öl aufgegriffen wurde. Eine weitere Version nach Holbein, welche um 1530–1539 datiert wird, befindet sich in der National Portrait Gallery in London (Inv.-Nr. NPG 5583).Sir Nicholas Poyntz war ein Förderer des Renaissance-Stils, der zu Beginn des 16. Jahrhunderts in England Einzug hielt. Er stattete sein Haus in Iron Acton in Gloucestershire, wo ihn auch Heinrich VIII. im August 1535 besuchte, mit italienischem Glas und Keramiken aus. H
