The white slip coating shows remains of black and green cold paints and earth incrustations. The neck has a thin crack in it. The woman is standing slightly slanted to the right. Her hair is gathered in a big bun of unsymmetrical shape, called daoji (bun shaped like a knife). On the face there are thick eyebrow-drawings and remains of eyes painted in black. The woman is wearing a form-fitted undergarment and a long skirt which is raised up to the armpits. A long shawl, with its short end put in the skirt, is covering the left shoulder and right upper arm. The shawl in orange and green colours is set off against the dark coloured skirt. With her slender body and tight dress, the woman gives an impression of the ideal of beauty and fashion in the early Tang period. Aristocratic ladies as well as women close to the cosmopolitan Tang Chinese court dressed in the traditional Chinese style of the Han period, but also appreciated foreign fashion styles. Their colourful clothes were made of delicate silk in colours of red, purple, yellow and green.
