Circa 1000-1100 AD, Khorasan or Afghanistan Seljuk decorative copper Zoomorphic Incense burner in the shape of a lion. Wonderful green patina. Burning incense in these burners would create the illusion of smoke appearing from the sculpted animal. Size: L:380mm / W:195mm; 700g Provenance: From private London collection; previously acquired in Paris in 2005; formerly in French collection since the 1970s.
