Circa 1550-1070 BC, New Kingdom A finely moulded faienceposition amulet of the goddess Taweret made from turquoise faience. She is depicted typically as a hippopotamus,plete with pendulous breasts and a pregnant belly. Her limbs are those of a feline, most likely a lion and her long tail represents a Nile crocodile. There is a large suspension loop on the head of the amulet. Mounted in a 22kt gold oval eye shaped pendant with suspension loop connected to a necklace. For similar see: Carol Andrews, Amulets, 1994.
