signed LURUNXIANG, inscribed, and with two seals of the artist ink on paper, hanging scroll A native of what is now Suzhou City, Jiangsu province, Lu Runxiang(1841-1915), styled as Fengshi, was a politician and a Zhuangyuan (first place holder at the palace examinations) during the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China period. Besides specialising in the running and formal scripts, Lu emulated the styles of Ouyang Xiu and Yu Shinan of the early Tang Dynasty.
