鸭熏是古代熏炉中的经典器形，特别在明代尤盛。此式宝鸭形香熏在明代宫廷庙堂殿中是颇为典型的陈设，永乐年间文渊阁大学士金幼孜在其咏明初元宵御宴盛况的《元夕赐观灯》中有『金鸭腾熏蔼瑞烟』的记述。 此件香熏巧作宝鸭之形，单脚站立的姿态较为独特。宝鸭昂首嘴半张，双翅贴身，尾巴上翘，双蹼刚健，伫立于四方台上，尽展英姿。宝鸭局部鎏金，华彩动人。羽翅迭迭重重，层次分明，全身翎羽均细致刻划，工艺极为细腻。鸭背上有盖，可自由开合，腹内中空，是为炉身，燃熏时烟随颈而上，让金鸭口吐香气，实为精工妙器。
