此炉仿造宋代瓷炉（详见《故宫历代香具图录》P165-22），蟹壳青，包浆古朴，炉口微撇，炉腹饱满突出，炉腹往下线条反转，自然收拢成三只短粗有力的乳足，乳足线条与炉腹线条浑然一体，于一舒一收之际尽显协调流畅的曲线美，使整个炉透着一股洒脱的气质。炉底“大明崇祯年制”六字刻款，书法简约而粗犷，刻工爽利而质朴。此炉姿态沉静优雅，韵味清远隽永，当为崇祯本朝官器之炉，是鉴定铜香炉标准器的极好样本，兼之形色佳绝，工精铜好，尤以款妙，必为众家渴求珍器，斯炉之色，能以成就，实为吾心之所寄，功之所成也，亦是宣炉收藏之上上品。
