湖田窑是宋、元、明时期景德镇的一处著名瓷窑，创烧于五代，主要烧造青瓷和白瓷，宋代创烧青白瓷，宋代所创青白瓷，代表了当时青白瓷烧造的最高水平，若用“青如天、明如镜、薄如纸、声如磬”来形容，恰如其分。此器，柱式弦纹，通体施青白釉，承袭了宋人的简约审美设计，可勘为文房雅器。
