Funerary mask. Ancient Egypt, Low Period (664-323 B.C.). Polychrome cardboard. Measures: 28 x 18 x 25 cm. Egyptian cardboard, dated to the Late Epoch, representing the face of a pharaoh, with large black eyes, outlined with kohl, thin eyebrows and straight nose. Anubis and his retinue are represented on the fabric of the headdress. It is a highly decorative piece, characterized by the use of bright colors (red, green, white and gold). The cartonnage is the funerary wrapping applied on Egyptian mummies, and began to be used in the First Intermediate Period, although it did not become widespread until the beginning of the XXII dynasty. It was composed of several layers of coated cloth or papyrus, which were painted and even decorated with gold leaf. Dimensions 28 x 18 x 25 cm.
