Zoomorphic fibula. Celtiberian culture, IV-II centuries BC. In gilded silver. Collection L.Vila Casas, Barcelona, ca. 1960. Measures: 3,5 cm. Silver fibula, a piece of Celtiberian goldsmithery. It is of zoomorphic type, with a representation of a wolf's head facing a bird, occupying the part of the bridge. These types of pieces were very common in all peoples until later inventions to hold garments. They were made in a great variety of elements and materials, according to the purchasing power and social position of the owner. The Celtiberians are known as Celtiberians to the pre-Roman Celtic peoples of the Iberian Peninsula, using the term for those dated between the late Bronze Age and Romanization (2nd century BC - 1st century BC). Along with the Vetons and the Vacceans, the term is also used for the so-called Carpetans, Celts or Celtiberians. Dimensions 3,5 cm.
