signed WANGYU, inscribed, and with one seal of the artist ink and color on silk, hanging scroll Wang Yu (1714-1748),a literati painter in the Qing Dynasty,was born in Taicang, Jiangsu Province.Together with the painters Wang Jiu,Wang Chen and Wang Su of Qing Dynasty,they are called "Xiao Si Wang".His paintings are light but not thin,sparse and elegant,and the brushwork is between Ni Zan and Fang Congyi.
