|笔筒是文房案头重要的文具，供放置毛笔用，虽未列入纸墨笔砚文房四宝之列，但仍普遍受文人偏爱，故笔筒均制作较精美。此笔筒取紫檀精料制作，直筒式，镶有脐状底，活装，为的是给木料经历冬夏，热胀冷缩留有余地，这是老的木质笔筒的共性。此件笔筒整体光素，不假纹饰，独显材质之美，体制硕大，筒壁厚实，古朴大方，木纹精美，牛毛纹细密，包浆自然，色泽深沈，选材珍贵，保存完好，为文房收藏佳品。
